Perhentian Dinanti

Note: A re-post as the last post was a lil screwed.

So today I'm back in office after a great, no, super duper awesome weekend in Perhentian. The ending to the island escapde only dawned upon me when I arrived at KL Sentral from the airport. The place is buzzing and the rush of people dashing everywhere. It is back to the crazy, fast paced, traffic inducing lifestyle.

Oh, how wonderful it was in Perhentian. It felt like time stood still. I did so little and yet so much; I slept, ate, had a lil too much of sun, drank lots of carbonated drink, snorkeled and truly immersed into taking my own sweet time to do things.

Perhentian is absolutely breath taking. The lush green treens, the wooden beach chairs, the white sand, the many blue shades of clean clear water, the breeze that sways the pretty coconut tree leaves, the friendly people I met on our trip, the very hospitable chalet staff, yummy food, the bubbly lady at the mini mart who simple refuses to believe that I'm Malaysian coz I apparently look very Eurasian, the beautiful corals and oh so pretty little colourful fishes, the turtles that swam so fast I only saw its tail, the stingrays which took a day off on Saturday, the sharks which were scared of us humans… It had all the ingredients to a beautiful memorable holiday.

I have no complains of my tan and would readily get another if I could get one more day in Perhentian. And guess what, I get to check one more item of my list. Weee~

Post Script: I know it seems like I have vanished - the last post being about a month ago. But I've been really tied up with work and when I do get to chill, I come back being a lil lazy to load up the pics. They will come up soon enough.

The Story of Conversation

I’m trying to put down these few things into words with the softest hint of instrumental tunes at the background to crease out my thoughts. But with only 2 hours of sleep, my already limited vocabulary is failing me and I can’t really paint a picture of what I want to say. So instead of trying to explain, perhaps a story will do better justice to the impression I’m trying to convey.

“You have a conversation where the rest of the world shuts of, it is only you and the person seated next to you that matters. The surroundings start out loud and noisy, busy with the family of 40 members seated next to the two of you. Neither realized when did the jim bang trickled out. Eventually the lights start switching off before you realize how much time has passed. You feel like going for a long walk, something not done in a very long time. The other suggested a car ride and off both of you went touring the streets of the metropolitan city with no destination in mind. Just bright lights, rights and lefts, roundabouts, missed turns and sometime even going in circles. But it was fun.

A small tour of yesteryear landmarks and sandwiches at the everything-under-the-sky-stall, which brought back thoughts of carefree college days, ended the night. But in essence, the two know it wasn’t the food, crowd or ride which was significant. Tête-à-tête was the glue to the beautiful night, to the seemingly endless exchange of words, ideas, opinions, swapping of stories, history, childhood memories. You could have sat down, talked and did nothing else but went home feeling like you had best time ever.”

That was the emotion I wanted to capture. Oh, and the lack of sleep? Totally worth it.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

So I was lucky enough to win four tickets to watch the screening of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa courtesy of AMBP. As my expectations for movies are near impossible, I decided to not put any hope to avoid disappointment. However, a long day of work took care of that, I had no time to consider how the movie would turn out.

Madagascar 2 continues from the first movie but for those who didn’t catch the first installation, worry not, the movie is pretty stand alone. This time, the 4 good friends, Alex the lion, Gloria the hippo, Melman the giraffe and Marty the zebra landed (literally!) in Africa in their attempt to get back to New York City. There they met with their fellow kind and felt completely at home, Roots as you would call it.

The movie was brilliant. The script is witty, with fantastic one-liners, a great story line and memorable characters which kept the entire audience in stitches. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much in a movie. I came out feeling so good, the perfect remedy to kick away the Monday blues or exam blues or whatchamacallit. So if you’re in for a good, relaxing time, I completely recommend a dose or two of Madagascar.

Anyone interested in a second run, let me know :). FYI, the only movie I watched more than once was The Dark Knight. And of course, they are incomparable in terms of delivery, but seriously, Madagascar 2 is deserving of a second helping.

I Like to Move It, Move It

I like to move it, move it.

She like to move it, move it

He like to move it, move it

You like to... *move it*!

Yes indeed, the loveable animals from the movie Madagascar are back to amuse and entertain us in their Escape 2 Africa. And that song was stuck in my head for a week coz its so catchy! I can’t wait to see what adventure the 4 friends will be in this time around.

"What are the names of the four unlikely friends in the movie Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa?"
Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo.

And yes, if you’re wondering why the sudden Q&A, AMBP is giving away tickets to the special screening for the movie. For more information, mousey *here*.

Melakans in KL

It was Ah Dan’s Birthday yesterday and we melakans who are now based in the Klang Valley got together for a small celebration to mark another year for Ah Dan dear. The same gang that hangs out in Melaka is now here, in a different state, chilling and having a great time. Change of location was just a matter of time as most of us are based here.

We still do hang out in Melaka but none of us go back religiously when the weekend comes by with the exception of a long weekend/ public holidays. It was awesome meeting up. Blur Blur joined us with his friend, Pau Pau who is literally in KL full time was also there, Budak Cerah too.

You know who’s missing – Sakura, Ah Ken and the very faraway Ketam. So, next time you look or change jobs, you know where to go yeah.*hints*

We had steamboat at Yuen’s Steamboat at Mentari Sunway. Getting there was a cute experience with Budak Cerah and Pau Pau came armed with a map. We still got lost (yeah la, Melaka only have 2 flyovers k) but arrived in good time. I ate, ate and ate and it took awhile to feel full. But it didn’t last, as I was going to bed, my stomach groaned in hunger. Poor me slept with hunger pangs.

The Jamie Oliver Experience

I’ve been meaning to cook for awhile but last week was crazy busy, I was away and had no time. The cooking utensils were brought over from home during the raya weekend and every time I step into the kitchen, it is as if they are mocking me, teasing me, challenging me to not let them be the white elephants of the kitchen.

So when I got home from work yesterday, there was a new sense of determination to cook a simple meal for dinner. You know the saying, to chop wood, make sure you have a sharp ax. That’s the thing, I’m missing the ax. Which translates to me not having everything I need to cook. Not wanting to give up, I marched up to the grocery store (it was drizzling, mind you!) nearby to find it disappointingly under stocked. The only thing I managed to get was rice and a vegetable.

As the drizzle developed into a shower, I geared up with my umbrella, head to the LRT station, drop at the next station and took a bus to the nearest Giant supermarket. It was not too bad, but the perishables are just terrible. I made do with the minimal I needed and headed home.

Cut, washed, prepared the ingredients and all ready to cook, when I realized I didn’t have a can opener to open a can of sardines! I made a list of things to buy but had no idea there was no can opener at home. Sigh… I went through all the effort, am halfway through my mission and am resolute to cook somehow. So I made some modifications and managed to cook dinner in the end.

What a cooking adventure! And my dinner was absolutely delicious. I think it had more to do with the fact I went through so much to cook and I was starving at 9pm for dinner. It felt really good to have a home-cooked meal, no matter how simple or that it is not even close to mum’s standard of cooking because it’s still so much better that food bought. And no, if someone were to ask me if I cook, my answer remains the same, “I don’t cook”. Why? I’m not telling.

‘I’m Going Silent this Halloween with Nokia XpressMusic‘

When I saw the word Halloween, my mind was already racing. And to put Halloween with Nokia XpressMusic, I wanted jump up and down like a naughty monkey from excitement. The most interesting bit is that Halloween would be silent this party around.

How can you have a party with no music or sound or dancing? Now, that’s not called a party, it’s a bunch of people overdressed for the library you say. But fear not coz the Nokia XpressMusic comes to the rescue. What has a handphone got to do with a Halloween party – everything!

The Nokia XpressMusic has tons of radio with one supporting European and Asian 3G networks, and another supporting North American 3G networks. Both versions also include Bluetooth 2.0 with stereo support, Wi-Fi, and a GPS. The mobile phone also allows media playback superbly. It comes along with a full 3.5-mm headset jack so it can be used with most stereo headphones. The high-quality stereo speakers can play quite loud which suits me really well coz I believe music (well, at least the genres I love) are best appreciated when heard loudly. I would be going "Please Don't Stop the Music!!" Yippee!

Not enough with the music, you can capture all your happy moments via the 3.2 megapixel camera which includes a Carl Zeiss lens, autofocus, and dual-LED flash. If you find still pictures boring, try catching a candid video which can be recorded at 30 frames per second. So we camwhores can bob to music while saying *cheese*.

I can’t wait for the silent Halloween party because with Nokia’s XpressMusic, nothing is really silent afterall. For more information, mousey *here*

The Raya Weekend

My only complaint about raya weekend was that 5 days wasn’t enough to be called a break. Before heading back to home sweet home, I figured 5 days in office seem to pass rather slowly so 5 days home is more than enough time to do much. Oh, how wrong was I.

In fact, I felt I should have forfeited my 1.5 days of sleeping and headed out to catch up with my friends instead. In trying to meet everyone I can, family to spend time with and also my beauty sleep which is a luxury I no longer have since starting work, I rushed in the last 2 days between people and places. I do feel awful about it, it is really unfair to meet up with a friend for 1.5 hours and then having to dash off somewhere else.

Raya is a quiet affair for me. I went to one open house and was helping myself to all the yummylicious cookies. I miss just having such delicacies to munch on when I’m bored or just itching to eat something. Seriously, if my skin was any thicker, I probably could have summoned enough courage to ask the aunty if I could tapau some for myself. Every single kuih raya was delightful to my taste buds which didn’t discriminate between the butter, chocolate, peanut butter and the myriad of flavours of each cookie. I’m already getting hungry typing this out.

With promises to meet up in KL and Melaka, I do hope on catching up with my friends soon. I do think we may eventually hang out more in KL since quite a number of us are based all over the Klang Valley save Ah Ken and Sakura whose presence will be missed dearly. I didn’t realize how dependent I have become to Sakura for all her food recommendations, I miss having her around.

Till the next cookie filled Raya, hope everyone had a fantabulous weekend.

Things to do

The thing about getting a job is that there are so many forms to be filled. My offer letter came with a thick wad of forms for all sorts of things like EPF, medical check-up, letter of agreement etc. It brings back memories of those days when I filled up all these forms for my sponsorship. While they are pretty easy to fill up, a lot of supporting documents are needed. And here I thought my days of making copies for my certificates and letters are over. On top of that, I'll be going back to school to get the documents certified as true original copies. I kinda pity the teacher who would be doing the certification coz his or her hand will be tired from the entire signature signing once I’m done.

Speaking of medical check-ups, it involves a blood test. Now I’m not exactly jumping up and down about this. I don’t have a fear of needles but I faint each time I draw blood and it’s a really scary feeling. I first discovered this in school when I was undergoing the Hepatitis B vaccination. Prior to that, the nurse has to take a blood sample to see if I already have the antibodies. As usual, boys were being whims (ok la, I was just in a hurry to not miss Bio class), so I was the first one. Needle in, needle out and voila, I was back in Bio Lab.

But about 10 minutes later, I started sweating profusely, I couldn’t hear a thing, the world was spinning like a never ending gasing ride and eventually everything started turning hazy white. Luckily my friend caught me right before I collapsed. This happened again when I underwent my medical check-up for uni. This time around, I was better prepared. I got my friends to stand by just in case and I made sure I sat down. True enough, I went all weak-limb about 10 minutes after the blood test. So the girl who stood before me who cried while blood was drawn gripping my hand tight till my hand turned white ended up taking care of me. The world works in strange ways sometimes.

Mum was really worried the first time around. She insisted I went to the doctor for a check-up to rule out anemia. The doctor had a good laugh at my story because apparently this situation is more prominent with the males. And that I had nothing to worry about. It happens because the mind takes more time to digest the fact that body has undergone a physical change and due to the delay, it reacts as such. So while I mentally am not afraid and am physically fine, I most likely would still pengsan. Lol.

This time around, I’m bringing Sis S along for my medical check-up. Helluva no way I wanna drive the 40 minute drive home after the blood drawing trauma.

Rainforest World Music Festival Part 1

Pre-Festival: Thursday 10th July 2008

The first thing superman and I did upon landing and checking into our beautiful Singgahsana (will talk more about this in another post) is to go around Kuching itself. Being located in the heart of the city was excellent as most places are within walking distance. It is during our mini exploration that both of us noticed we were being stared at. People of Indian descendant are rare in East Malaysia hence all the attention.

Need prove you’re really in Cat City? Look at the amount of cat figurines available at the shops! There is no mistaking we’re in Meow Meow Land.

If you come to Sarawak, you have to, totally absolutely must eat their Sarawak Laksa and Kolo Mee and drink the The C Peng Special or else shoot yourself dead *laughs*. Coz if not, you did not come to Sarawak. So that’s what I had for lunch.

Teh C Peng Special. This is a three layered tea drink of tea essence, sugar water and ideal milk clearly separated in the glass and it was super yummylicious. I drank Teh C Peng Special for every single meal there, it’s that good!

My friend Bee and her friend Hana were actually on the same flight as me but they arrived late so they had re-purchase their tickets and take the next flight over. While a good RM350++ was gone for the tickets, they made a new friend Jie who sat next to them who parted ways at the airport. While checking in their hotel, Bee and Hana bumped into Jie again! This time around, he invited us over for dinner with his Kuching friends. Our group expanded from 2 to 4 to 10 people in a matter of a few hours!

In the meantime, Hana, Bee, Superman and myself decided to go for the River Cruise. Here’s a trick to getting cheaper tickets, don’t buy them at the jetty as they cost RM60 per pax. While looking for a makan place for lunch, we actually passed the ticket office and with my amateur bargaining skills, I scored four tickets for RM45 each! The cruise lasts 90 minutes with snacks provided and a cultural show.

It is amazing how small the world is. While talking over dinner we were all surprised at how many mutual friends we had despite coming from all sorts of places. Hana knows my roomie’s bf as they work in the same company. Jie is also from Melaka and knows my classmate Rui Yee from uni as they were from the same high school. DD knows Esther and Jie as they both study in RCSI in Ireland. Sabena knows Li Shun whom I met at Pow Wow Camp as they are classmates in IMU. It felt like a Facebook network just built right in front of us.

Besties Weekend in Meow City

I’m back from Cat City!! And I had a great weekend. While I was there to attend the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF), it was catching up with my besties that was a bigger highlight of the weekend. I missed them so much so it was so fantastic to meet them after 7 months. We spent a solid 5 years together, 7 months feel like an atrociously long time before we meet. Plus work brought them so far away from me, with Ah Nee in Bintulu and Ah Hua in Kerteh.

We stayed up talking, chit chatting, gossiping and everything that happens when you put girls together in one breathing space. We also shopped for souvenirs with the favourite questions, “Eh, do you think this is nice ah?”, “If I bargain this for half price, you think can ah?”, “Oh, you’re getting that, me too!!” etc. The ruckus we girls made as we ransacked the shops of Main Bazaar equipped with our amateur bargaining skills was hilarious. It reminds me of the ladies of Sex and The City when they get together.

I felt like I was transported back to uni days when we hang out and have a great time. I really missed them and all our experiences together. The weekend was consoling, refreshing and glued us together even closer. Distance brought us physically apart but we’re always be besties in heart.

Now, let me talk a bit about Kuching and its people. The first thing to note was Kuching is very clean; superman even thought we were in Singapore! The people are very friendly, nice and so accommodating. We made friends everywhere we went, in queues, the shuttle bus, those who within 1 metre radius of where we sat during the festival, everywhere! When we wanted to cross the road, cars actually stop to allow us to cross. I have never ever experienced this anywhere else in Malaysia.

When superman and I were walking along the streets of Kuching near the Waterfront, I thought the sight of us in our sunnies, camera on my left hand, clutching a map on my right hand with a cap to shelter against the fury of the sun was a funny sight. So I thought that it was no big deal when I saw eyes trailing superma and I, plus I didn’t want to seem perasan, after all there were tonnes of tourist around. Not until an hour in Meow City that I realised I didn’t see any Indians around. So, superman and I looked like foreigners in our own country!! People smile, nodded, looked, stared and all not because we looked like tourist but the fact we look so different from the locals. Talk about being local celebrities *ahem* And seriously, I can’t differentiate the people there. Almost everyone looks like a mix between Malay and Chinese, I can’t tell them apart.

I’ll update more on the Rainforest festival right after I sort out the hundreds of pictures I took. Stay tuned~

I'm in Kuching!

Yes, i'm here blogging when i should really be taking a nap. but i simply cant sleep. superman and i barely slept last nite. he had 3 hours, i had 5. while i still feel alright, when we arrive, we were like two zoombies roaming the streets looking completely lost. seriously, i think we make a funny sight because cluthed in my hand is a map looking for the street signs and landmarks. and superman tagged along coffee deprived where he says the quirkiest things which sets me laughing. its funny what coffee or the lack of it does to a coffee lover. oh, and he actually got his dose of caffein in coffee bean before we boarded the plane this morning. i guess one drink alone was not enough.

so while superman is catching a nap and i'm tired of tossing and turning, i came here instead. i was really looking high and low for Bishopgate Cafe which is famous for their Kolo Mee and Teh C Special Peng to have lunch. we walked the entire street to no avail. and that's when i noticed everywhere we went, people look and stare. it dawned upon me that everyone we met were chinese or of local ethinicity. so while we're malaysians, we probably look like complete outsiders, foreign even to them. even the guy at our backpackers asked if we were Malaysians!!

i love the backpackers i'm staying at. it's called Singgahsana Lodge. It's quaint, homey, cosey and just so simple and nice. when i checked out the bathrooms and toilets, i almost did a happy dance coz it is sparkling clean! the staff are friendly and i love the atmosphere here. it feels like home away from home. will load up pics when i get back.

well, i gotta run. superman's up and we're gonna head out soon. i'm looking forward to more of the Teh C Special Peng coz it's so nice! i'm so freaking *happy* i'm here!!

Kuching Checklist

I’m all ready and packed out for my Kuching trip. Even as I’m typing this, my excitement is escalating at a frightening rate. Of course it is not frightening if you’re me! So I looked through my bag and mentally took note of all the items I needed to bring along. Here’s a check list I keep for travelling purposes. I absolutely hate accidentally leaving something behind. While some items can be lived without, having them around makes life so much easier. I take comfort in my own things. And I find it a hassle to have to borrow or worse still, buy, if I left something behind.

The checklist takes away the burden of having to mentally remember stuff. Plus all I need to do is to tick away the list to make I have taken along everything. Here’s my Kuching Checklist:

Clothes – to last 5 days 4 nights. Brought along lots of t-shirts and shorts to cater to the hot weather. Plus I’ll be outdoors quite a bit.

Undergarments – to last 5 days 4 nights or I prefer to count it as how many times I’ll be taking a shower. There will approximately 8 showers this trip so at least 8 sets to go.

Toiletries – comb, body shower, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste (all travel pack sizes of course)

Cleansing Regime – Cleanser, Toner, Moisturiser (travel pack) to make sure my skin stays healthy.

Camera – to take loads of pictures!! Included is the charger

Hand phone charger – so I can stay connected.

Sun block – much needed for all my time outdoors.

Cap – to prevent too much tan. I almost never regain my colour back whenever I’m out too long in the sun. So a cap reduces a tan a tiny bit.

Umbrella – for the sudden showers. Plus it also protects against the fury of the blazing sun.

Sunglasses – to look cool. *laughs*

Insect repellent – AA went for the Rainforest World Music Festival 2 years ago and reminded me (more like drilled it in my head) to bring this along because it would be my life saver. He poor soul had a literal blood donation drive to the feisty mosquitoes during his last visit there.

Denim Jacket – in case it gets cold. Will definitely use it on my journey to the airport (I’m leaving home at 6 am *horror*), the airport and during flights.

Towel – not provided by the backpackers I’m staying at.

Blanket – I get cold pretty fast due to the absence of flesh and fat in my severely underweight body. And I bet the ang moh’s in my dorm won’t be too happy if I switch off or turn up the temperature the air-cond in the middle of the night, so my blanket “courtesy” of Malaysian Airlines will keep me snug and warm.

Shoes and flip flops – For walking duh

Map – 3 Maps of Cat City with the main streets and important locations beautifully highlighted in yellow. I took the pains to look up comprehensive maps which had good landmarks to make travelling and walking around easy when we go sight-seeing.

List of Places to Visit and Food to Eat – again google and blogs are really helpful in deciding where to go, how to go and what to expect. I especially took in more effort in the food section coz this girl can definitely afford a piling up a few kilograms :).

Kenny’s Food Award post and Wiki Travel of Kuching are superb. I savoured every bit of those articles, absorbing all the details and then neatly compiled my own list in my notebook. I can’t possibly visit every single place so I focused on the must-not-miss items like the Sarawak laksa, Kolo Mee, Teh C Peng etc etc.

Packets of tissue – absolutely needed because my nose will display sinus-like and flu-like symptoms every time I eat irrespective of what I eat. Will need the tissues handy.

2 Hangers and clothes peg – Laugh all you want but I packed those because I know the clothes line and clothes hanger will be totally utilised as the backpackers is full house. At least I get to hang my towel to dry by the window or something.

Vitamin C – to stay in the pink of health.

That’s pretty much it. I doubt I left anything behind. While I do like travelling light, I also like to ensure I don’t miss out anything and try to cover all possibilities. I’m simply not a believer of chance and I hate thinking of “What if’s” without having a simple solution.

If the sun comes up, I have my cap and sunblock. When it rains, I’m geared with my umbrella. I brought an extra set of clothes in case of any emergency. It is all this little tiny things that can be left behind but I hate it when I’m stuck and thinking at the back of my head, “Damn, I should have brought that thing!”. So yeah, I pack up and am ready to go!

Kuching, beware for here comes Ohkulala to invade, explore and enjoy your city!!!

Hair Cut and Cost Cuts

I did one of the most random things today. Well, it is not outrageously random unless you're me. Coz you see, i got myself a hair cut. Yes, a cut, not a mere trim as i regularly do. I was thinking of getting a new hairstyle, preferbably something shorter as my hair is in its longest length ever grown and i'm in need of some change.
So while chit chatting with my mum today, i had this sudden urge to get myself a new hairstyle. And i'm the sort of person who has to go out doing something right when i feel like it. If i were to wait and further think, i usually end up not accomplishing it. So i changed and headed off to the salon immediately.
I must say i was a teeny tiny nervous about the haircut coz i've not had short hair for many many years. So i told my hairstylist Ron (who is so cute btw) that i'm putting my faith in him to make me look nice. Lol. You should have seen the look on his face when i said that. Plus i couldnt get something funky in case i need to attend job interviews.
Anyhow, here's how my hair now looks like. I've not spotted hair this short since i was 12!! I quite like the cut, simple and absolutely no-maintenance. I need a break after one year of taking care of my curls.
Tadaaaa.... the new haircut

And speaking of short hair and the current hike of petrol prices, i'm already doing my part. Shorter hair means less shampoo and less water therefore less expenditure. Smart right? *laughs*

I Club at Loft @ Zouk

I don’t club all that much but when I do, my favourite place is Loft@ Zouk. Everyone there practically lives in their own world. Loft becomes the centre of the universe uniting all individual planets together in one space sharing their love for music, fun and dance.

Ah Sha and I

I see people dressed in all sorts of outfits, you can spot the fashionistas, the funky, the weird, the afros, the hip-hoppers, the sixties and just about anything you can imagine here. It’s like a mini world from all sorts of generation and future fashion statements. And the best part is you look cool no matter what you wear, just jeans and a t-shirt will do and you will fit right in. That’s what I like so much about the place. Individualism sense of style and dressing prevails here and no one cares what you’re wearing. Like I said, you will somehow look cool anyways.

Music is the binding force and glue to the place and if you like music enough, the pleasure exudes will be one of orgasmic force. I’m only there on Fridays to catch Twilight Actiongirl (TAG) consisting of DJs Bunga, Chaseylain (Keropok’s brother btw), Ribut 10:59 and Xu. The description of their music is Britpop, eletroclash, transientrockamuchasomthinboutmary but music is too broad to define so here’s how I put it. They share a passion for every genre so us Lofters can expect plenty of surprises when they play music. From The Killers and Franz Ferdinand to James Brown to Miss Kittin, everyone’s bound to get their music fix whenever Twilight Actiongirl is behind the decks.

DJ Chaseylain in Action

Xu’s my darling among all because he churns out the best electronica tunes, very my taste of music. Non-Lofters should never ever see me when he plays a familiar tune coz I would be screaming my lungs away, singing, swaying, jumping up and down like an Energizer Bunny and ultimately dancing away. The adrenaline rush keeps me pumping all night and no amount of coffee can give me such boost. As with the fashion sense, dancing is self defined. One of the best dancers I know is Keropok and boy he can move!

After months of not grooving to the Loft’s beat, Ah Sha and I finally made our way to Loft@ Zouk last week for a wonderful night out. I really missed going there and it’s not the clubbing or the dancing part that I miss but the very place itself had me longing to go there. See, that’s the magic of the place, it captivates you and the drawing factor is strong that you keep wanting to go back for more. It feels like an addiction of sorts, some people cannot live without their daily dose of coffee, while I live for the next moment to go to Loft and TAG.

Booze are cheap by KL standards. You can get a jug of margarita for RM25, 2 jugs of Long Island Tea for RM80 and this new concoction of stout, lime and wine (I forgot its name *horror*) for RM40 a jug. And of course they have all the alcohol you would expect from a club. How could i not mention this other thing... if you come before 12 midnight, there is no cover charge. Woo Hoo!! More reasons to love the place :)

I can't wait to get there again. I miss you Loft..... And the club is the best way to learn to work your shutter speed and flash of your camera so that you can CAMWHORE!!

Roaring My Way to Nuffnang Wild ‘Live’ Blogging

Meow there. If you have been following Ohkulala’s posts, I’m sure you notice something not right from the very first word. Yes, I’ve have hijacked her blog, stole access to her sister’s brand new laptop and embezzled her username and password to get my 2 minutes of fame. Meooowww

I’m a cat and cats need a lot of attention ok. But I figured I’m tired of the real world so why not try getting some attention here in the virtual world. Pretty damn smart for a cat don’t you think so?

Oh, let me introduce myself. I’m a Pussy called Wussy. Yeah, my owner is pretty cheesy when it came to names. Everything owned is named, including you-know-what-down-there. Meooww. Sometimes when my owner is not looking, I do take an aim at what-is-down there. *Cheeky cheeky*

Anyhow, in the animal kingdom, there has been a lot of hoo-ha going on about some live blogging event organized by Nuffnang. So Wussy the Pussy has been sent here to invade the human world for a while to investigate what the hell is all the fuss about. I mean, come on, I could have caught up on more sleep if it wasn’t for all the hype. Sheesh people. Initially, there was talk about sending my partner coz he’s bigger and fiercer. But on second thoughts, sending Stripesy the Tiger might not be such a good idea if he decides he does not like you and then gobbles you up for dinner.

Ok, now that you know I love sleeping (I’m Garfield’s cousin by the way, hence the similar sleeping pattern), I also enjoy reading the newspapers. It is good to keep yourself updated you know. And my favourite sleeping spot? No guessing here, by the newspapers itself!!

And not wanting to sound bias, I tend to fall asleep more on the News Straits Times because their entertainment section is almost nil. Zzzz…. I much prefer the Star Two of The Star especially NicoleKiss' column on The Star Metro but I almost never get to it until a lil later once I’m up from my NST doze off.

That's me Pussy the Wussy getting some shut eye by NST

So back to Nuffnang’s Wild Life Blogging, here’s what I’ll report. There will be human beings dressed up (trying very hard to impersonate us divine animal beings) as wild animals on 21st June in Modestos/Rain at Desa Sri Hartamas and they are going to blog live at the event. Sounds really interesting, I think I might even make an appearance! Yeah la, it gets tiring with just Stripesy the Tiger and newspapers for friends you know.

I’m feeling tired from all this hijacking already so I better chiow before Ohkulala spots me here. Off to take a nap now. Oh, visit Nuffnang’s website for more info. *click* Tata~

Not Your Average Super Hero

When I was thinking of super heroes this morning, the first thing that popped in my mind was Care Bears! Yes, that cartoon we all watched as kids and some while still in their diapers. They are the most adorable bears and I enjoyed every minute watching the show. And they sure made an impact; I still remember them vividly till today so that says something doesn’t it?

So while Superman and Batman combats evil with their underwear worn out, the Care Bears who lives in a city in the sky named Care-A-Lot, take a gentler, loving approach to things. Their job is to keep watch over the earth to keep bad feelings at bay. Whenever a kid is feeling down, they are there to help bring a smile to the child's face. They are alerted to problems by the Care-O-Meter. No violence is involved when it comes to warding off their enemies. What they do is to unite and use the Care Bear Stare to beam good energies at their enemies, such as No Heart, Professor Cold Heart, Shrieky, and Beastly. Non violence, now that’s something we should be teaching kids these days.

These cuddly, adorable bears made solid companions to me as I was growing up. Mum used these super heroes on TV to distract me from disturbing her while she cooks dinner. Smart technique huh. I think every kid should have a Care Bear with them. That way, no more being scared of what’s under the bed, the shadows lurking in the dark and walking alone in the middle of the night to the toilet to pee. It would be every parent’s wish come true. Yeah, Care Bears in reality would be awesome!!

There are 10 Care Bears in all. My favourite is Cheer Bear who bears the Rainbow symbol. If you want to know which Care Bear character resembles you, take the quiz *here*

The post is part of Nuffnang’s Exclusive Screening of Hancock. To win a free ticket, all you have to do is to write a blog entry titled ‘Not Your Average Super Hero’ and write about any super hero in reality would be. For more information, visit the website.

Fishing My Way To Made of Honour

Now that exams are over and my presentation done, i'm all alone here with solid good internet and what hv i been doing?? FISHING! Yeah, i've been playing this 90sec fishing game brought to you by Hong Leong Bank. I love it so much even you should give it try *click*

So, what is this hoo-ha all about? Well, Nuffnang is holding this competition where 40 winners will get to attend an 8 course dinner in JW Marriott KL after which will be the premier of Made of Honour! I've heard so much of this place i need to get my butt there. All you need to do is to, well, fish of course. Then you post a screenshot of the highest score with the title above. Oh, how i love not having to study so i can play and play this game the whole day. Yippee!

After all the fishing, here's my highest score and i sure hope this is good enough to get me a superb treat to a fabulous dinner at the glitzy JW Marriott and watch McDreamy in Made of Honour. Ahhh.... *drools*
