Roaring My Way to Nuffnang Wild ‘Live’ Blogging
I’m a cat and cats need a lot of attention ok. But I figured I’m tired of the real world so why not try getting some attention here in the virtual world. Pretty damn smart for a cat don’t you think so?
Oh, let me introduce myself. I’m a Pussy called Wussy. Yeah, my owner is pretty cheesy when it came to names. Everything owned is named, including you-know-what-down-there. Meooww. Sometimes when my owner is not looking, I do take an aim at what-is-down there. *Cheeky cheeky*
Anyhow, in the animal kingdom, there has been a lot of hoo-ha going on about some live blogging event organized by Nuffnang. So Wussy the Pussy has been sent here to invade the human world for a while to investigate what the hell is all the fuss about. I mean, come on, I could have caught up on more sleep if it wasn’t for all the hype. Sheesh people. Initially, there was talk about sending my partner coz he’s bigger and fiercer. But on second thoughts, sending Stripesy the Tiger might not be such a good idea if he decides he does not like you and then gobbles you up for dinner.
Ok, now that you know I love sleeping (I’m Garfield’s cousin by the way, hence the similar sleeping pattern), I also enjoy reading the newspapers. It is good to keep yourself updated you know. And my favourite sleeping spot? No guessing here, by the newspapers itself!!
And not wanting to sound bias, I tend to fall asleep more on the News Straits Times because their entertainment section is almost nil. Zzzz…. I much prefer the Star Two of The Star especially NicoleKiss' column on The Star Metro but I almost never get to it until a lil later once I’m up from my NST doze off.
That's me Pussy the Wussy getting some shut eye by NST
So back to Nuffnang’s Wild Life Blogging, here’s what I’ll report. There will be human beings dressed up (trying very hard to impersonate us divine animal beings) as wild animals on 21st June in Modestos/Rain at Desa Sri Hartamas and they are going to blog live at the event. Sounds really interesting, I think I might even make an appearance! Yeah la, it gets tiring with just Stripesy the Tiger and newspapers for friends you know.
I’m feeling tired from all this hijacking already so I better chiow before Ohkulala spots me here. Off to take a nap now. Oh, visit Nuffnang’s website for more info. *click* Tata~
Not Your Average Super Hero
When I was thinking of super heroes this morning, the first thing that popped in my mind was Care Bears! Yes, that cartoon we all watched as kids and some while still in their diapers. They are the most adorable bears and I enjoyed every minute watching the show. And they sure made an impact; I still remember them vividly till today so that says something doesn’t it?
So while Superman and Batman combats evil with their underwear worn out, the Care Bears who lives in a city in the sky named Care-A-Lot, take a gentler, loving approach to things. Their job is to keep watch over the earth to keep bad feelings at bay. Whenever a kid is feeling down, they are there to help bring a smile to the child's face. They are alerted to problems by the Care-O-Meter. No violence is involved when it comes to warding off their enemies. What they do is to unite and use the Care Bear Stare to beam good energies at their enemies, such as No Heart, Professor Cold Heart, Shrieky, and Beastly. Non violence, now that’s something we should be teaching kids these days.
These cuddly, adorable bears made solid companions to me as I was growing up. Mum used these super heroes on TV to distract me from disturbing her while she cooks dinner. Smart technique huh. I think every kid should have a Care Bear with them. That way, no more being scared of what’s under the bed, the shadows lurking in the dark and walking alone in the middle of the night to the toilet to pee. It would be every parent’s wish come true. Yeah, Care Bears in reality would be awesome!!
There are 10 Care Bears in all. My favourite is Cheer Bear who bears the Rainbow symbol. If you want to know which Care Bear character resembles you, take the quiz *here*
The post is part of Nuffnang’s Exclusive Screening of Hancock. To win a free ticket, all you have to do is to write a blog entry titled ‘Not Your Average Super Hero’ and write about any super hero in reality would be. For more information, visit the website.

Unemployed? Bummer? Professional Slacker?
Now that I’m home and just recently graduated, I find it a lil tricky to classify which category do I fall into. I can’t call myself a student because I’m no longer studying. I do not have a job yet, so that makes me jobless hence unemployed. But I don’t quite like that term, it makes me appear lazy. Right now whenever someones asks, I just say, I recently graduated. But I’m sure you see the loophole in this. After say 3 weeks, being “recently graduated” will be old news and stale.
Being on holidays is too broad a term for most people especially when it comes to dad and some of the wiser generation. And saying that I’m on holidays will invite a host of questions like “How long are you planning to take your break?” “What do you plan on doing?” “Oh, is that how young people these days spend their time?” “How’s the job hunt coming along?” Seeing I’m not keen on being bombarded with so many questions, I need to find a better way around getting to what am I up to these days.
I’d like to think of myself as the bummer because that’s what I do pretty much now. I sit and bum around at home, go out occasionally, run some errands and housework here and there. I have yet to get around to teaching and volunteering yet so there’s very little to say. The word bummer has a nice ring to it. Every time I hear it, I get the visual picture of myself in a bikini lounging on a hammock by a beautiful beach wearing a beach hat tanning under the sun with my favourite book and a lunch pack tucked at the corner of my mat. Such a lovely image don’t you think so?
But a dear friend of mine who is taking a year off work came up with a more “refined” way of putting it; he calls himself the Professional Slacker! I think it’s quite brilliant though all it does is to dress up a simple term in a more fancy way. Pretty much the same way the Hygiene and Waste Management Officer actually means the garbage collector. *laughs*. I might actually pull of the Professional Slacker to tickle some funny bones when I’m in the mood of mischief.
What am I now actually? Unemployed, Bummer and a Professional Slacker. But not just that. I’m also taking a well deserved break after months of hard work and brain cracking. I would like to take this time to chill, relax and do some soul searching before I head out to the real world where harsh realities and the possible lack of no time for me might pop up more that I’d like to. I do want to give back my time at home where I’m hardly ever around all this years. Lending a helping hand to those who need some tender love, care, help, attention and guidance would be tiny way of giving back after all the showers of blessings I’ve received. To pursue things that I wanted to do but never got down to doing it. To be in my element. But most of all, to make the best of my holidays in every way possible.

The grown up princess
But all those lazy mornings of waking up in time for lunch, lazy afternoons of eating ice-cream, evenings of exploring places to eat and shop in Melaka, yummy dinners home (gosh, I noticed everything is food based!), the occasional errand to run, volunteering at the handicapped centre, teaching, KL times of holidaying, partying, socialising, catching up with all my friends and clubbing, and I mustn’t forget to be the *ahem* filial daughter at home, all those came crashing down when my domestic helper was sent back 1.5 years too early!!
So instead of early noons and late nights, I get the boot at 8am when dad leaves for work. His idea of making me get out of bed is to lock up after him when he chiows. And he knows that I have difficulty going back to bed once I’m up. *Ggrrr* A new routine has developed.
0800: Drag myself out of bed, tell daddy goodbye, wash-up, breakfast
0830: Do laundry. And no cheating here, I handwash the clothes.
0930: Hang the clothes to dry
0950: Housework – sweeping, cleaning, mopping the house
1100: My blessing in disguise, I’m learning to cook!
1230: Clean up the kitchen
1300: Lunch
1400: Chill time, reading, sorting out stuff and (still) unpacking my 5 years worth of things, re-decoration ideas for my room
1700: Folding clothes
1830: Preparing for dinner
2000: Dinner + TV + desserts
2190: Internet surfing + misc + reading
1200: ZZzzz
What do I get in return? Nothing, monetary wise. But there is always a positive outcome to every situation and it is up to me to look at it any way I want to. Yes, I do miss sleeping in and waking up late and just not having to worry about the weather if it is going to rain, whether the clothes will dry, what to cook for today etc etc.
However, I am picking up cooking, improve my household chore skills, be of a better use at home and occupy my time. All of this is quite unexpected but I’m learning a lot in the long run. And with all the work, I feel a certain sense of achievement within myself. I have less guilt when I splurge on my next buy, going out with my friends and each time I’m out I feel so very light and care-free because I get to be a lil girl all over again. Yes, the little princess is growing up indeed.

The Interview
On the other hand, on the very same day, I saw something I’ve not seen in a very very long time. I liked what I saw; it has a feel good factor about it. The emotions that come with this is pretty nice. Do I see something in the future? Perhaps. But this is something I don’t mind not knowing for now. Let nature run its course and I’ll see what time brings as the future unfolds.
