The best time of my day is...

Shower Time!!!

I Love Love Love taking showers. They are so refreshing and relaxing. Showers to me are like therapy, you go in, you get pampered and when you leave, you feel all good and nice inside. The pitter patter of water droplets on my face and body is soothing like massage to my tired muscles. I can’t imagine anyone Not liking a shower.

If I could be addicted to one more thing asides chocolates and ice-cream, showers would it. I love taking showers so much that I tend to stay in there till my fingers wrinkle up like prunes. But it is so fun just playing with water.

Of course I do wish my bathroom looks like this:

Then I probably wouldn’t even get out. Hehehe…. In fact, I do a lot of my thinking and soul-searching as I lather with soap; scrub myself clean from sweat and grime. It is the perfect time to think, peaceful, quiet and I can hear my thought loud and clear. I ponder on many things, scheme evil plans in my notty lil head (yeah right) and create a mirage of imaginary situations. Say if I were to meet the President of the United States, would I slap him or shake his hand?

It is so fun that I do get carried away. This explains why a shower for me is usually 15 minutes of luxurious alone time to remedy my body after a long day of hard work. And it is almost half hour when I wash my hair. Hey, hair also need some TCL ok, if not how would I expect my crowning glory to shine?

I do plan on getting myself a beautiful bathroom when I get a place of my own one day. Preferably one that incorporates both a shower and a bathtub so I can take my many many bubble baths. And let’s not forget, a shower and bath can always be shared with a someone else to a romantic escapade of passion :) Now, I’ll leave that to your creative imagination.

Buried

Sophie’s head feels like it is going to burst. She silently curses under her breath. The very thing that should not happen is now happening to her. She fills that gap with his songs. She remembers the silhouette of his body, tall, built with arms that make her feel safe. The sharp nose and the intense eyes. The curve of his body as he sleeps.

Sometimes the intensity overwhelms her. She has the one thing she wants right before her, within reach, within grasp, within hold. Yet she cannot put her hand out, not even to touch it. Because what she wants is fragile and immensely beautiful, she’s afraid even her gaze might ruin it. The ache of something so near yet so very far.

Sophie curses again. She does not want to remember and yet it is so hard to forget.

Sophie had jokingly and very playfully warned William about this a long time ago. Except that now she has to swallow a dose of her own medicine. Why is this happening? This should not be happening. The frustration of this is simply eating Sophie up inside.

Sophie has managed to always be on the other side of the fence when things like this take place. It is because she never realizes what is going on until a few years later. Years later when the crushes have moved on, and gathered enough courage to tell her that they liked her once upon a time.

Sophie paces up and down the room. Flashes of William come up like lighting during a thunderstorm. “The irony of all this” she mutters under her breath, “is that I’m the best friend and everything will change if I do what I want to do”. Her head pounds for a kind of consolation but nothing comes.

Sophie hates the two options she has. But not making a decision is not a solution either. Each carries a weight she does not want to shoulder. Both will come with a price to pay. Sophie wished she could turn back time to before the weekend, before the fun time, before the teasing started, before when she had a best friend.

Sophie wishes the old Sophie with the same William, where she can talk to about this dilemma she is currently in. the time when she will just ramble on and on and on and William plays the perfect gentleman, sitting down and just listening attentively.

She has wondered the possibilities of events that could take place. The acceptance in a state of shock or the rejection in a state of disbelieve. But either ways, the thought of losing the best friend is too painful to bear. “Would I rather do as I would with regret or try to find a glimmer of hope that it will work out. And if it doesn’t, at least I’ve have tried.” But losing a best friend, that’s a thought Sophie refuses to bear.

She took a walk that evening to clear her head, a very very long walk which was as far as her thoughts brought her. A single tear rolled of her eye and she heaved a heavy sigh. Sophie has made up her mind. “This” will be bottled up inside, buried in the deepest corner of her heart for she will put up a brave front and swallow the beautiful feelings she has for the darling William. For he shall not know and everything will go back to the way it was; normal. At least Sophie hopes.

My Pressie

Since I had cake and a pressie, everyone automatically thought it was my birthday. So I had a “Happy Birthday” song played for me

I had a card with very touching words. *I will miss everyone here*

I had 45 minutes to spare before Iron Man. So we took 45 minutes worth of camwhore pics

I watched Iron Man which was excellent!

I was dropped back to my doorstep.

But being princessly was not the best part. It is the loving loving thoughts and things AJ with J, JB, A, DV, H did which really touched my heart. I can’t thank you enough for the wonderful night I had yesterday. I loved the cake (how did you guys know?!), the cute lil teddy bear (he’s so adorable, named him Martin) and the company of all of you. It saddens me that that night would have been one of my last ones here with you all. With promises to keep in touch, I will leave this place with a heavy heart. *Hugs*

Chemy Dinner 2008

Photobucket

The semester officially ended last Friday which also marked exactly 5 years of my presence here in Cowboy Town Uni. In those 5 years, I spent 2 months as a Business Information System student before I switched to Chemical Engineering. To commemorate the end of our journey as a Chemy student, a farewell dinner was organized in Casuarina Hotel, Ipoh.

Le Gang were dressed to the nines in our very terrific attires, I think we stole a fair share of limelight. Seeing that we are the most multiracial clique in class (and being the oh-s-glamorous people we are), we decided that we should wear a traditional costume different from our own.

So I wore a cheong sam or qi pao that night.

Ah Kie with a baju melayu, Ah Ha kurta suit, Ah Sha baju kebaya while Ah Lan decided to stick with smart casual. Now, how to not steal limelight la? *laughs* We got everyone’s attention the moment we stepped in :)

The dinner was short, sweet and simple. The organizing chairperson gave a 2 minute speech and dinner commenced. Food was excellent, International Cuisine buffet and the spread had a lot of variety. The deserts however were disappointing.

Why so shy Ah Sha?

We played games – charades, folding of the newspaper and 3 songs were performed by our friends. The night ended with a group picture and off the camera went flashing like crazy with everyone trying to get a picture with everyone.

I’ll leave you with some here:

2 sets of couple – Tana and Punitha with the Indian Costume, Iman and I in our Chinese costume. And the best part is we didn’t even pakat with each other. Nice coincidence and check out the superb colour coordination.

"Controversial" Pictures

A bunch of Chemy (short for chemical engineering) students got together and organized a farewell dinner last night at Casuarina Hotel, Ipoh. I'm currently waiting for the pictures from the official photographer to complete my collection before putting up a post.

To save more time, I’ve shared the pictures on DC++ (the P2P network) instead of transferring them every time someone asks for them. And then a most interesting conversation started when a classmate pm-ed me on gtalk. She very politely asked me to remove any "controversial" pictures that I took. My first reaction was one of shock, like how dare You tell me to remove My pictures that I took with My camera! But then I reflected on her words and of a previous event.

Somewhere last semester a batch dinner was organized and the organizers came under fire when a lot of "controversial" pictures were being shared. Controversial in Cowboy Town uni consitutes of:

a) Girls with very pretty dresses. Literal meaning: not wearing "decent" clothes like baju kurung or tudung aka not covered up

b) Girls and guys in the same picture. Literal meaning: those of the opposite sex shouldn’t be seen together in the same frame

c) Girls and guys in close proximity with "provocative" positions. Literal meaning: standing close with perhaps their arms around each other the way good friends do

d) Innocent games played which may look "suggestive" depending on the angle you look at

These definitions really depends on which eye are you looking through. The management view all these as bad, terrible for the uni's reputation, immature, against moral values, ethics and religious beliefs. I look at it as it was a night of spent with the bestest of friends for a memorable time before we head our separate ways, dressed up all pretty and nice and taking loads and loads of pictures for memories. None of the pictures were even remotely controversial. But then again, these are thru my eyes. Things got so out of hand that the organizers were threatened with possible expulsion. And that’s not even the best part. Some of those “indecent” pictures were even featured in the PAS website criticizing the current generation who are loosing sight of the virtuous path of good versus bad.

So i kindly removed all pictures that could be deemed "unsuitable". Yes, they were my pictures but those pictures include others in them. And I wouldn’t want a night of innocent fun to get out of hand when the extreme conservatives try to find fault and land my dear classmates into hot soup.

We talk about freedom of speech and liberty of technology. Bah. These social barriers and obligations start from now on. I could be selfish and stubborn and go like, I don’t care, those are my pictures and I can do whatever I please with them. Or I can be politically correct, remove the pictures, keep everyone happy and nobody gets into trouble. I choose the latter.

Oh, to look for the pictures on DC++, search under Chemy Dinner 2008 or you could look up my hub frushilgik.

Anugerah Industri Musik (AIM 15) - Full Coverage

The weekend was a blast! Remember how I mentioned i'm going for the AIM? Well, the Anugerah Industri Muzik was awesome from the very beginning starting with the pre-party to the post party.

Photobucket
Le invitation

There were 4 of in all, two from Fly Fm, Adibah and myself and two more from Hot FM, Liza and Firdaus. As part of our win, we got to pick out our attires which were sponsored by Little Black Book and Jefferson (for Firdaus), a makeover, walk the red carpet with the DJs, sit through the event at VIP seats and attend the post party! The words nice does not even come close to describing the coolness of all this.

I’ve broken down to post to 3 parts. Here is goes:

Pre-Party

Friday 2nd May 2008: It was every girls dream come true to walk into a boutique and try on dress after dress before picking on one. Little Black Book had a pretty wide selection of dresses, all very pretty, I was spoilt for choice. I tried on at least 15 dresses before I settled down on my final choice. Being small and skinny was a huge disadvantage as I had trouble finding clothes that fits. Size M is wayyy too big for me; I look like I’m swimming in it. I was initially a little hesitant with my final choice simply because it screams ME all over it. A very typical dress I would have picked out except that I was hoping to go for a different look that night. But I figured it is best I feel comfortable with what I’m going to wear since ill be in it for a few hours.

Saturday 3rd May 2008 (3-6pm): Make-overs at Sri Pacific Hotel :).

Party

This is when all the excitement truly starts. We were brought to the VIP lounge where everyone was chilling out before they walk in. Met an old friend Fabian from Radio Icon who now works for Fly Fm. We did not waste any time here, took shots with who we could get a hold of.

My date for the night was Phat Fabes who looked smashing with his coat and vest.

Adibah’s date is Ben (who is so cute btw, his pictures do not do him justice).

Walking down the blue carpet (to reflect Celcom which is a sponsor of the event) with Fabes is pretty cun. I had my one minute of fame smiling at the cameras who went flashing like crazy.

My seat was 4th row from the font, Woo Hoo!! Fabes is funny and really nice to talk to. He kept us laughing whenever he teases Adibah Amin whom I think did a great job hosting the event with Adlin Shauki. They were witty and entertaining throughout. The things that went on during the commercial breaks with her saying “I love Faizal Tahir” and “He’s so cute” left the crowd in stitches.

* * *
Ben: Do any of you blog? Coz I came across your post on the event
Ohkulala: I do blog. You did? *I think my eyes were gonna pop out*
*reality striked, I ain’t famous, only those who knows me reads my blog so he probably got the wrong person*
So I asked a few more questions and confirmed it was my blog indeed! *cloud nine*
* * *

Faizal Tahir had great showmanship with his flying act and Superman shirts. Pop Shuvit ended the night with a bang. Their performance was very fancy with the whole stage appearance, clowns, fire eaters etc. Kudos to them for winning the Anugerah Kembara which acknowledges Malaysian artists who bring their music abroad. Pop Shuvit were number 1 in Japan beating Linking Park (info courtesy of Fabes), now don’t you feel proud?

Post Party

Food was provided but I barely ate with all the excitement. Took more photos. Such a camwhore. Hehe

The Biggest winner of the night – Faizal Tahir

I think I slept with a smile and this image plastered on my face. There is no way I can forget all the glamour and glitz of the star studded weekend :). I must say I felt a certain sense of pride for the artists, singers and bands. It is not easy to break through and make it in this competitive industry in Malaysia. Some of them are yet to be on par with the international artists but give them time and I’m positive they will grow, develop and bloom in due time. Congratulations to all the winners of AIM. And a very big Thank You to Fly Fm and Reen who was in-charged of us winners. Today, I have one more event I can talk about, beautiful memories and another story to tell my kids one day. Hehe…

When are you going away?

It is those times when the feeling creeps up and takes over. I can hear it as it deafens me amidst the blaring of my favorite tunes at the foreground. It consumes my mind, paralyzing it from functioning. I try to shake it off but it just wouldn’t budge. It forces me to confront it. It loves a good conflict, a twist of words, the confusion of the intellect side, the twirl of a shattered spirit, and the pieces of the long broken heart. But it is not the emotional turmoil it seeks for that would be easy. It hunts for the bewildered faith, the searching soul, the one with a thousand unanswered questions. It gnaws at my wavering curiosity, my intense indecisiveness, the skepticness I’m trying so hard to kill, the astounding clarity of things I once possessed now blurred.

And now the imperative answer I search for is “When are you going away?”
